    Jalaun is a city in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. The town was formerly the residence of a Maratha governor, but never the headquarters of the district, The HQ. of the District is at Orai, a city on the Kanpur-Jhansi NH27.1
    Till 1971, the district of Jalaun was under the Jhansi division. The Magistrate/ Collector/ Judge Jhansi would come to Jalaun at Orai twice a week and hold his court at the Sessions House Building (presently the residence of the District Judge, Jalaun at Orai). Till 1971, Orai was an outlying court of Jhansi.
    In the year 1971, sessions division Jalaun at Orai came into being. Late Shri B.L. Goel served as the first District Judge of this judgeship. His tenure was from 01-02-1971 to 05-02-1974 followed by 32 District Judges. Shri Lallu Singh is currently the District and Sessions Judge of Jalaun at Orai. The residence of the District Judge which was the court when the District Magistrate/ Collector/ Judge used to hold his court at Orai is a colonial bungalow surrounded by lush green gardens.
